Early Pay/Modelling

This wizard enables users to make changes to an employee's pay at various times during the payroll process. It also gives the user the ability to inquire about an employee's gross pay, deductions, and net pay.

Additionally, this facility is used to enter details pertaining to early leavers who require a calculation of their pay in order to be paid early (i.e. by cheque) or to evaluate what someone's pay would be like (i.e. modelling).

Rules and Guidelines

  • This is available before Process Pay is started. In the event of a Supplementary Run, the application must be unlocked using the Supplementary Run option first.
  • Be careful when using Effective Dates on Salary and Pay Codes. The Early Pay/ Modelling will calculate using the date effective code active at that time, and changes made to the code after this will NOT be used in this period.
  • As with Statutory fields, this Wizard requires you to input the reason for a change once Save or the confirm key is pressed.
  • Fields that are marked with red asterisks (*) are mandatory.
  • The items that are not completed are colored Red. As the user moves to the next screen, the data is saved and the progress item changes to Green. Items that have not yet been navigated are in color Grey. Colors do not change back (i.e. from Green to Grey or Green to Red) if the user navigates Back.
  • The items are not selectable as the Next and Back buttons will navigate through the Wizard.
  • Clicking Cancel will close the Wizard after confirmation (where a warning message is displayed) but any saved data will remain if the user has gone past the first screen.

Moreover, this process is used for the following circumstances:

  • The employee has been paid previously during the current pay period the employee is a starter;
  • The employee is a current period leaver and therefore should be dealt with accordingly;
  • The employee is a previous period leaver (in the same tax year) and should be dealt with using the specific rules regarding this type of payment; or
  • The employee is weekly paid and there is a requirement to pay holiday in advance.
